1st and 3rd Fridays

2 PM – Dusk

Outdoors! Along State Street Sidewalk

November – April

You’ve heard it before – when you buy local, you benefit your community’s economy and general vitality.  We’d like to share a few statistics as to the benefits of shopping with an independent vendor.

  • A recent study found that purchasing from locally owned stores created about 70% more local jobs, and 67% more overall local income, per dollar spent.
  • Another study found that for every $100 spent at a national chain bookstore, $13 stayed in the community. In contrast, $100 spent at a locally owned, independent bookstore put $45 into the local economy.
  • Research on buying local foods in Virginia found that if each household spent only $10 per week of their total food dollars on locally produced foods, the state overall would receive more than $555 million per year!!!

Kennett Square Farmers’ Winter Market will be “putting out the greens” this Friday, March 16th, from 2 pm until dusk.  Come in to town and stock up on your local market items – fresh veggies, breads & baked goods, meats and cheeses, chicken and eggs, honey, jams and jellies, coffees, and who-knows-what-else!

Winter Markets are held the first and third Friday from November through April, beginning at 2 pm and continuing until dusk. You will find the vendors set up outdoors along State Street. Convenient parking is available in the garage at State & North Union Streets.
