April is National Poetry Month – and leave it to Kennett Square to show some local pride and celebrate with the most fantastic poetry reading to his the East Coast!

Christianna Hannum Miller, a long-time local, was showcased at The Flash this past Monday, reading selected shorts and poems from three of her collections.

Christy and beautiful artwork

Christy is a good friend and supporter of our farmers market, and we were more than thrilled to be a part of her ever-growing fan club. She shut it down with a packed audience and we hope she performs there on a regular basis!

The perfect celebration of National Poetry Month!

Mingling about after the reading

The set up at The Flash was intimate, respectful and very personal, with a sound system so well-perfected that it felt like her poems were being whispered over your shoulder and directly into your ear. On stage and throughout the venue on flatscreen TVs were images of local farms, beautiful women, and amazing drawings by illustrator and friend Emily Hubley – all a perfect visual compliment to the lilting poetry resonating through the crowd. Congratulations, Christy – we want more!
